West Sulawesi Province BPS (BPS Sulbar) has just held a Workshop on Evaluation of Data from the 2023 Agricultural Census Processing Results (ST2023) for two days effective on 15 and 16 November 2023 at the Ballroom d'Maleo Hotel & Convention, Mamuju. This activity is not only an important momentum in maintaining the quality of ST2023 data, but also as a forum for collaboration with all related parties.
Muhammad Nurbakti, Head of the activity, emphasized that this evaluation is vital to ensuring the quality of ST2023 data as a whole. "We hope to obtain a comprehensive evaluation of agricultural commodity coverage, improve coordination and collaboration, and produce optimal ST2023 data," said Nurbakti.
A speech was also delivered by the Head of BPS West Sulawesi, Tina Wahyufitri, who highlighted the importance of maintaining the quality of agricultural data. He also appreciated all parties involved in ST2023 activities, and asked for insight from each agency/OPD to inform them of the condition of the agricultural subsector in their respective regions in order to obtain more holistic information.
This workshop began with the presentation of material and evaluation of each agricultural subsector by presenters from BPS RI and BPS West Sulawesi Province, such as Faishal Nurkamal, Agung Setio Wibowo, Pertiwi Tanihaha, and others. They discussed various agricultural subsectors such as food crops, animal husbandry, plantations, fisheries, forestry and horticulture.
In the discussion, Robinson from the Mamasa Fisheries Service highlighted the decline in the number of households engaged in the fisheries sector. On the other hand, Josephin Meity Turukay from the Mamasa Agriculture Service revealed that there had been an increase in the area of tobacco planting. Both of them shared information related to this phenomenon which is an important part of the ST2023 evaluation.
This workshop ended with intense discussions and exchange of information which is expected to make a major contribution to the final ST2023 data which will be released soon.
