September 11, 2026 | BPS Activities
– A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the
2026 Economic Census was held at Hotel Matana 2, Mamasa Regency, on September
9–10, 2026. The event, organized by the House of Representatives of the
Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), involved Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of West
Sulawesi Province and discussed the evaluation of the 2026 Economic Census
(SE2026), particularly its implementation in West Sulawesi, as well as issues
related to decile classification.
The event began
with a welcome speech by the Head of BPS West Sulawesi Province, Suri
Handayani. In her remarks, she highlighted the progress of SE2026
implementation in West Sulawesi, which has entered its final stage of data
collection. Mamasa Regency recorded one of the highest completion rates,
reaching approximately 99.61 percent.
“The
implementation of the 2026 Economic Census in West Sulawesi is nearing
completion. Mamasa Regency has recorded a completion rate of around 99.61
percent. This achievement is the result of the hard work of statistical
partners and employees of BPS Mamasa Regency, as well as the important contribution
of the people of Mamasa, who warmly welcomed our field officers and provided
the information needed during the data collection process,” Suri said.
She emphasized
that support from various stakeholders has played an important role in ensuring
the smooth implementation of SE2026. Public participation as respondents, the
dedication of field officers, and coordination between BPS and relevant
stakeholders have contributed not only to the timely completion of data
collection but also to maintaining the quality of the resulting data.
Following the
welcome speech, the event continued with a keynote speech by a member of
Commission X of the House of Representatives, Ratih Megasari Singkarru. The
session focused on the evaluation of the 2026 Economic Census, particularly in
West Sulawesi Province, as well as issues related to deciles as one of the key
topics discussed during the forum.
Through this
FGD, the House of Representatives and BPS West Sulawesi Province sought to
strengthen public and stakeholder understanding of the implementation of SE2026
and various issues related to data utilization. The forum also served as a
platform to review the ongoing data collection process and strengthen
collaboration among stakeholders in supporting the availability of high-quality
economic data.
The 2026
Economic Census is expected to provide a comprehensive picture of the structure
and condition of the economy down to the regional level. The resulting data are
expected to serve as an important basis for evidence-based policymaking and
development planning.
