In February 2015, the labor force in West Sulawesi as many as 647.7 thousand people. The figure increased by 39.3 thousand people, an increase of 6.45 percent compared with August 2014. Over the year (February 2014 - February 2015) total labor force increased by 7.82 percent.
In February 2015, the working population as much as 636.0 thousand, an increase of 40.2 thousand people (6.75 percent) during the last semester. Added resident who worked for a year (February 2014 - February 2015) amounted to 44.9 thousand people (7.59 percent).
Unemployment Rate (TPT) in February 2015 reached the figure of 1.81 per cent, meaning that of the approximately 100 residents, including labor force, 2 of whom are unemployed. This figure is up compared with TPT in February 2014 at 1.60 percent, but decreased when compared with TPT August 2014 (2.08 percent).
Workers are not fully in West Sulawesi reached 338.6 thousand people, or about 53.24 percent, while the remaining 297.4 thousand people (46.76 percent) are full-time workers.
The largest absorber of labor in West Sulawesi is the agricultural business sector. In February 2015, the number of people working in this sector amounted to 56.18 percent of the working population, or as many as 357.3 thousand people.
In February 2015, the percentage of informal workers in West Sulawesi reached 75.58 percent of the total workers there or as many as 480.7 thousand people. While the remaining 155.3 thousand people (about 24.42 percent) is the formal workers. When compared with the situation in February 2014, an increase of informal workers in West Sulawesi as many as 69.3 thousand, an increase of 16.58 percent.
Less educated workers (JSS down) still dominates in West Sulawesi. The scale reached 480.2 thousand, or approximately 75.50 percent. Meanwhile workers secondary education (high school and vocational) of 102.1 thousand or 16.05 percent and which has a higher education (Diploma and PT) as much as 53.8 thousand people, or 8.45 percent.
