Abstract

In March 2022, the percentage of the poor (population with expenditure per capita per month below the poverty line) in the Province of Sulawesi Barat was 11.75 percent or down 0.10 percent points compared to September 2021 and increased 0.46 percent points compared to March 2021 .

Absolute, the poor population of Sulawesi Barat Province in March 2022 was 165.72 thousand people, decreased by 0.27 thousand people compared to September 2021 and increased by 8.53 thousand people compared to March 2021.

The percentage of poor population in urban areas in September 2021 of 9.72 percent increased to 9.76 percent in March 2022. Conversely, the percentage of poor population in rural areas decreased from 12.39 percent in September 2021 to 12.26 percent in March 2022.

The role of food commodities on poverty lines is greater than the role of non -food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the poverty line to the poverty line in March 2022 was 77.55 percent. This condition increased when compared to September 2021 which was 77.47 percent.
