[Mamuju, May 17, 2024] - The West Sulawesi Provincial Government (Sulbar) held the 2024 Regional Consultation on Gross Domestic Regional Product (GDP) for the Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua (Kasulampua) Region in Mamuju on May 16, 2024. The event, themed "Strengthening the Foundation of Economic Transformation Based on Superior Potential for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in the Kasulampua Region," was held in conjunction with the Development Planning Consultation 2024 Sulawesi Regional.
The consultation was attended by representatives of provincial governments, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) throughout the Kasulampua region, including representatives from Mamasa Regency. Acting Governor of Sulbar, in his speech, emphasized the importance of synergy between parties to achieve the predetermined GDP growth target.
Several key issues were discussed, including tourism sector development, infrastructure improvement, and strengthening the agriculture and fisheries sectors as the region's mainstay sectors. Participants also raised various challenges faced, such as limited transportation access and the need to improve human resource quality.
The consultation resulted in an Agreement and Recommendations named the "Manakarra Agreement". This agreement strengthens the commitment and synergy between local governments, academics, business actors, and the community to encourage the strengthening of the foundation of inclusive and sustainable economic transformation. The agreed-upon efforts include natural resource downstreaming, strengthening research and innovation, optimizing distribution channels, expanding markets, and increasing labor productivity in the Kasulampua Region.
The "Manakarra Agreement" is expected to be a guideline for all parties in realizing inclusive and sustainable economic transformation in the Kasulampua region. With synergy and joint commitment, it is hoped that the GDP growth target can be achieved and bring benefits to all people in the region, including Mamasa Regency.
