[Mamasa, July 6, 2024] - Buntubuda Village, Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi, has been officially designated as a Statistical Love Village (Desa Cantik) for 2024. The designation ceremony was held at the Hall of the Mamasa Regency Education Office and was attended by the Acting Regent of Mamasa, the Head of BPS for West Sulawesi Province, the Heads of BPS for Regencies across West Sulawesi, the Head of PMD Office, Representatives from the Communication and Encryption Office, the Mamasa Subdistrict Head, the Head of Buntubuda Village, and village officials.
The Desa Cantik program aims to enhance literacy, awareness, and active participation of village officials and the community in statistical activities, as well as to improve skills in processing, using, and utilizing statistical data so that development programs in the village are well-targeted. Buntubuda Village was selected as one of the villages in Indonesia designated as a Desa Cantik for 2024 and is the third village in Mamasa Regency to be included in the Desa Cantik program, following Tondok Bakaru Village (2021) and Balla Barat Village (2022).
The Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Mamasa Regency, Aan Setyawan, stated that this activity could encourage the community of Buntubuda Village to manage the village government correctly so that it can serve as a reference and role model for surrounding villages in Mamasa Regency. With the Desa Cantik program, it is hoped that Buntubuda Village can become a smarter, more independent, and highly competitive village in utilizing data for sustainable development.
