[Wednesday, December 18, 2024] – The Head of the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Office in Mamasa Regency, Aan Setyawan, along with his team, visited the Office of the Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service of Mamasa Regency to conduct a handover of scales to support price monitoring activities. The handover of these scales is expected to standardize the units used in price calculations.
It is known that since the local elections (Pilkada), the price of broiler chicken in Mamasa Regency has increased. The Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service of Mamasa Regency stated, "The units used to determine prices in the community are still in forms like per head, bundle, and others, which can affect market prices." The scales being handed over are intended to change the units currently used in the community to kilograms, so there is consistency in the units used across the broader population.
The handover of the scales was followed by a price check of chicken at the market. The goal of this activity was to monitor the price development of chicken in Mamasa Regency. The Head of BPS Mamasa, together with the staff of the Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service of Mamasa, visited two locations chosen as samples for the chicken price check. The results showed that the price of chicken ranged from Rp50,000 to Rp60,000 per head, or Rp37,000 to Rp42,000 per kilogram. This indicates an increase in chicken prices in Mamasa Regency, which is likely influenced by the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.
