Abstract

In September 2020, the percentage of poor people (the population with per capita per month below the poverty line) in the province of Sulawesi Barat at 11.50 percent, up 0.63 percentage points compared to March 2020 and increased by 0.55 percentage points compared to September 2019.

• In absolute number of poor people of Sulawesi Barat province in September 2020 as much as 159.05 thousand inhabitants, an increase of 7.03 thousand inhabitants compared to March 2020 and increased by 7.18 thousand inhabitants compared to September 2019.

• The percentage of poor people in urban areas amounted to 9.59 percent in March 2020 rose to 9.98 percent in September 2020. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2020 amounted to 11.26 per cent increase to 11.89 per cent in September 2020.

• The role of food commodities to the poverty line is greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). Donations to the Food Poverty Line Poverty Line in September 2020 stood at 76.93 per cent. This condition is not much different from the situation in March 2020 in the amount of 77.17 percent.
