[Mamasa, February 6-11, 2025] – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Sulawesi Province held a reconciliation of the Gross Domestic Regional Product (PDRB) for the fourth quarter of 2024 through the Zoom platform. This event took place in two sessions: February 6-7 for the reconciliation of the PDRB by Business Field and February 10-11 for the Expenditure side. The event was attended by the Regional Balance and Statistical AnalysisTeam from all BPS offices across West Sulawesi, including BPS Mamasa Regency.
The Regional Balance and Statistical Analysis Team from BPS West Sulawesi, Dwi Ardian, emphasized that this reconciliation is crucial in compiling the PDRB. "Reconciliation is not just about matching numbers, but ensuring that every piece of data used is interconnected and accountable," he stated. Dwi also added, “In the reconciliation process, there is a sequence of checks and several important points that must be considered, such as the data sources, calculation methods, and discrepancy figures.”
In the midst of ever-changing economic dynamics, faster and more accurate data is needed, such as quarterly Regency/City GRDP figures. Well-conducted reconciliation will produce quality GRDP data, which is the basis for making more targeted and sustainable economic policies. In addition, this data provides a clearer picture of the economic conditions in each region, which is very important in formulating regional economic development strategies.
This activity underlines the importance of the role of accurate and timely statistics in supporting economic policies that are responsive to changing conditions in the field.
